How We Listen

If you’re a mother, you can join The Count — our national community of mothers who choose to stay engaged with this work. Members may occasionally be invited to share their perspectives through brief reflections, roundtables, or research updates.

While our nationally representative surveys are conducted through independent research partners, The Count ensures that lived experience remains central to how we frame questions, interpret findings, and communicate insights.

Join The Count to receive research updates and occasional opportunities to share your lived experience as part of a national community of mothers.

What is count on mothers?

Count on Mothers is a data-driven legislative advocacy tool for mothers with the purpose of surveying mothers’ first-hand knowledge and using that information to impact policies that directly affect the well-being of families.

How does it work?

When a bill that could affect children or families is introduced to the House or Senate, Count on Mothers runs a survey to capture data that will help legislators understand how the legislation could impact American families.

Why does it matter?

Count on Mothers will provide a quick and easy tool for real-time data during a time-sensitive legislative process.

Community Appreciation Partners

Count on Mothers periodically recognizes a small number of organizations whose publicly stated commitments and practices reflect priorities consistently surfaced in our nationally representative research — including child health and safety, transparency, and support for family well-being.

Recognition as a Community Appreciation Partner is not a paid placement and does not imply endorsement of products or services. These organizations are distinct from our research funding and do not influence survey design, analysis, conclusions, or reporting.

From time to time, Community Appreciation Partners may extend optional offers directly to our community. Such offers are separate from and have no bearing on our independent research.

Roundtables & Lived-Experience Discussions

Roundtables provide space for mothers to reflect on themes emerging from our research and share lived experience in greater depth. While nationally representative surveys form the backbone of our benchmark data, these conversations allow for nuance, context, and perspective beyond structured survey questions.

Participation in roundtables is voluntary, and discussions may inform public reports, expert briefings, or educational content. Personal information is never shared without consent, and research findings are always presented independently and in aggregate.

Whether you join The Count or participate in a roundtable conversation your lived experience contributes to a deeper understanding of the realities shaping family life today.
